We cannot thank you enough, our biological mothers, for bringing us into being. But, should we not include or recognize other people's contributions to our lives, our children's lives, or who are capable of selfless and unconditional love?

I overheard some people talking about Mother's Day and how it is being a mother. Then, their conversation turned to how she couldn't be a mother because she didn't have any children. It starts to get me thinking, should mother's Day only be dedicated to biological mothers? And that's how I came up with this thought process...
Motherhood is said to accomplish the essence of a woman, but not all women can be biological mothers. Either by choice, by fate, or due to some medical conditions. But, just because they decided not to have a child or inability to have one due to their health conditions doesn't mean they have no maternal instinct. Familiar with biological mothers who abandoned their children, abuse them, and use them? Some mothers take their children for granted, while some are trying to move mountains to have one.
Not having a child of your own or being unable to bear biological children is not making you less of a woman or less of a mother. It does not limit your capacity for motherhood. It does not prevent you from giving in to your instinct of loving, nurturing, and caring for a child.
It takes tremendous love and a sense of caring and giving to bring up your children indeed. Still, it takes so much more to be able to love a child who is not your own in the biological essence. It doesn't have to be a child of your own to be called a great mother. It is more important to consider that every woman has the power to make positive changes in a child's life. Giving birth to a child is not enough to be called a mother. After all, motherhood statements are not only about biological mothers. Being a natural parent is not only in the DNA but, it is in the heart...
A mother's love is vital for her children's healthy physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual outcomes. How she loves her children significantly affects their lives.
Mother is not simply a word or about bringing a child into the world. A mother will always prioritize the well-being of their children above their own selfish needs and wants. A mother will make sure her children are physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually healthy in a primary sense. Besides birth mothers, there are many other kinds of mothers too. The world is packed with mother figures, those called to motherhood differently because mothers' love can come in many ways. Women are all mothers when giving motherly love — compassionate, embracing, guiding, nurturing, caring for someone without any expectations in return, without conditions. You don't need a biology to mother or to be mothered. It takes so much to raise a child, and this mothering comes from a lot of different types of people.
Recall somebody you knew who has a motherhood spirit, who always gives unconditionally without any expectations in return... Not to mention the nuns and nurses, together with laypeople and staff who take care of abandoned, sick children at the orphanage and for the service of others. The volunteers who teach environmental awareness in schools and to local organizations to empower communities. Devoted teachers who make more effort for their students and profession. You might even know someone supporting or raising their younger siblings, grandchildren, nephews, and nieces after their parents departed. In some cases, deserted them deliberately. Someone who takes care of a child who has been deprived of a mother's love. Someone who desired to foster a child instead of bringing a child of their own. Therefore, let us celebrate Mothers Day to all mothers in our lives and to everyone who embodies the spirit of motherhood, not only as a biological status.

♥ Happy Mother's Day ♥
To all the mothers and mother-like figures who have made a POSITIVE difference in someone's life!
